In overshot weaving, when you throw the shuttle the weft yarn "shoots over" a series of warp yarns, so that a decorative float appears on the cloth. In colonial times and in the 19th century, weavers used this type of weave to make beautiful coverlets for their beds. You can continue this folk art by learning the technique while making smaller items, such as table runners or towels. In this class you will warp the loom (with help), so completion of the Beginning Weaving class or equivalent experience is needed.
